implants

Implants are small screws made of titan. There are attached to the bone in upper- or lower jaw to replace roots there the patient misses his own teeth. It's possible to insert implants in a healthy, healed bone tissue about 6 month after tooth extraction.

An implant works as a prosthetic column that carries the crown or denture. Depending how many teeth are missing, how the jaw is built and the bite, determines how many implants are necessary and different prosthetic constructions.

Implants can have single crowns, bridges or dentures. The treatment is performed in local anaesthesia and takes about 1 hour.

The tooth replacement is not simultaneously with the implants. This because the implants must be integrated with the bone tissue first (Osseo integration). It takes about 3 month in the lower jaw and 6 months in the upper jaw. The patient uses a temporary denture during this time.

After this period it is possible place a prosthetic construction on the implants.

Implants have been used for over 30 years and the popularity grows more and more. It gives a permanent replacement for those teeth that are missing.
