bonding

What is bonding?
Bonding is a technique to attach composite material (plastic) onto the teeth. It contains partly of plastic and 85% glass. Composite is used to repair damaged teeth, filling, cosmetic improvements, change colours of your teeth and to correct crocked teeth.

Bonding will make all your stains you have lighter, make the gap between you teeth smaller.

Bonding will make discolouring teeth lighter; make the gap between your teeth smaller. Bonding can also repair chipped and damage teeth with a thin layer of plastic material on the surface of the tooth. Then a bonding material is applied to its shape, colour and sculpting the material on the tooth so it will have a beautiful aesthetic appearance. The material will be exposed with a strong light that makes the composite hard. After that, the surface of the tooth is polished.

Composite material is today more used as a filling material for cavities and root fillings instead of amalgam.

Bonding is relatively cheap and effective method to get beautiful teeth. However, the composite is porous and can easily be discoloured. How long the composite will last depends how well you take care of your teeth.

A porcelain veneer is better resistant against discolouring and it lasts longer than traditional bonding technique.

The bonding technique is also used to fasten gems.
